BASS Chamonix Ski School

Christmas snow conditions and openings

Some of the Chamonix & Megeve Team out Training this week

The weather is currently stunning here in Chamonix with blue skies & sunshine from peak to peak.  It's been a dry spell in the Alps this December but the temperatures are cold so the ski lift companies have had the opportunity to make artificial snow to top up the natural snow which fell in November.

Saturday the 17th December sees the resorts officially open however uplift and ski runs will be limited during this clear weather snap.  Today we have put together some information for you regarding what is currently open and also due to open tomorrow.  It is important the areas are most suitable for the level of skiers in your group, we hope this will help you to plan your skiing and lesson schedules.

(Please note our information is gathered from the Ski Lift Company website so it is as accurate as that information provided to us.  We recommend you check the website information Compagnie du Mont Blanc )

All our instructors are fully experienced with such weather difficulties and have been briefed to communicate with all our clients the day before your lessons are due to start so we pick the best skiing area in the Chamonix Valley for you & your family.

This may mean a last minute change to what we have pre planned with you but we all understand that the enjoyment & experience of our clients is a priority.

We advise everyone to ski within the marked areas and to ski at a safe speed as the slopes may be busier then when you previously skied.  Please give way to all lower level skiers and have an enjoyable stay in Chamonix.

We wish you all a safe journey out and a very Merry Christmas & New Year.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us here at the office or contact your instructor directly from the information you will be sent in your meeting sheet details.

Beginners & Green Run skiers:- Have available Planards in the town of Chamonix and then as a progression Flégère at Le Praz for those who have progressed to skiing difficult Green runs unassisted & blues runs.

Les Houches Prarion should also be open at the top of the Prarion Gondola for Beginners and Green & Blue run skiers.  this information is is unconfirmed at this point.

Red & Black run Skiers:-

Advised to ski at Grands Montets at Argentiere - the uplift & downlift at the end of the day is by the Cable Car and the Gondola.

Brevent at this time we are unsure of what skiing runs will be open.

We will update this information when we can tomorrow (Saturday).
